MIDF SHARIAH COMMITTEE MEMBERS
IR. DR. HJ. MUHAMAD FUAD BIN ABDULLAH
He is the Chairman of Shariah Committee of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (“MIDF”) and a member of the Board Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of MIDF on 28 April 2003.
He holds a Doctorate in Islamic Civilisation from University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a BA (Jayyid) Syariah from Jordan University, Amman, Jordan. He also holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) degree from University of Southampton. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, a member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is also an accredited mediator of the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia and a registered Syariah lawyer of Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Perak. He is a professional Engineer with Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia, ASEAN Engineers Register, APEC Engineers Register and International Mobility Forum.
He had served as an Electrical Engineer with the Public Works Department, Engineering Logistics Manager with Uniphone Sdn. Bhd., a tutor with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Vice President of Kolej UNITI.
Ir. Dr. Hj. Muhamad Fuad is a National Council Committee of PERKIM and Deputy President of the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association. He is also a Board member of BA Learning Programme at Fiqh and Usul Fiqh Department of International Islamic University of Malaysia.
He is currently the Chairman of MIEL Logistics Sdn. Bhd. and a director of MIDF Property Berhad and Institute Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (“IKIM”).
Ir Dr. Hj. Muhamad Fuad is also a Panel Speaker for “Program Pengukuhan Intergriti Perkhidmatan Awam” (“PIPA”) organized by JAKIM and was accredited as a Panel Member of Forum Muhibbah for Program Harmoni Desa organised by Kementerian Pembangunan Luarbandar dan Desa.
DATUK DR. SYED OTHMAN ALHABSHI
He is a member of MIDF Shariah Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Statistics) (Honours) from University of Malaya and Bachelor of Sc. (Statistics) from University of Wisconsin, United States of America and was conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor (Econometrics) from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
He had served as a Lecturer with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Dean of Economic Faculty (Professor) with International Islamic University of Malaysia, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia, Deputy Chief Director of Institute Kefahaman Islam Malaysia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. He is currently Chief Academic Officer of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (“INCEIF”).
Datuk Dr. Syed Othman is a member of Syariah Advisory Council for Amanah Mutual Berhad, Malaysian Retakaful Berhad and Labuan Reinsurance (L) Ltd. and Singapore Unit Trusts Global Ethical Fund. He has been approved by the Securities Commission as Syariah advisor for Sukuk.
He is currently a director of Asia Unit Trusts Berhad, Etiqa Takaful Berhad, Maybank Islamic Berhad and Prima Prai Sdn. Bhd.
DATO’ HAJI MUHAMAD ASRI BIN HAJI ABDULLAH
He is a member of MIDF Shariah Committee. He holds a Degree in Syariah and Islamic Studies from University of Baghdad, Iraq and a Diploma in Islamic Administration and Judiciary from International Islamic University of Malaysia. He had attended a Special Course for Islamic Officer at the Muslim College in London, United Kingdom and holds a Certificate of Attainment of English Language from ELS Richmond, London, United Kingdom.
He had served as Head, Dakwah and Information Section, Kadi and Chief Kadi of the Islamic Religious Department of Perak, Ipoh and held the post of Chief Justice and Head of the Perak Syariah Judiciary Department, Ipoh.
Currently, Dato’ Haji Muhamad Asri is an Appeal Court Judge at the Federal Syariah Court of Appeal. Besides the above, he is also a Panel of Syariah Appeal Court for the States in Malaysia.
