KUALA LUMPUR, Monday, 14 May 2007 - Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (“MIDF”) today announced that its subsidiary Fulton Prebon (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“Fulton Prebon”) shall be ceasing its money-broking business activities with effect from Wednesday, 16 May 2007.
In a statement today, MIDF said that the decision on the cessation was made following the rationalisation exercise and streamlining of business activities within the MIDF Group.
Fulton Prebon was incorporated under the Companies Act, 1965 on 3 October 1973 and has an authorised share capital of 300,000 comprising 300,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each. The issued and paid-up share capital of Fulton Prebon is 200,000 comprising 200,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each.
The principal activity of Fulton Prebon is money broking services and related activities. At present, MIDF holds an effective interest of 75% in Fulton Prebon while Prebon Holdings BV Ltd holds the remaining 25%.
MIDF seeks to maintain its existing clients by offering its competitive and innovative money-broking services through Amanah Butler Malaysia Sdn Bhd. (“Amanah Butler”), the other money-broking unit in the MIDF Group. Currently, Amanah Butler is the leader in this market segment.
