MIDF Break Fast Treat for Orphans

Kuala Lumpur, 9 October 2007 –  In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan and in the spirit of caring and giving, Malaysian Industrial Development Finance (“MIDF”) has recently feted forty (40) children from Asrama Damai Orphanage Kuang, Selangor at its breaking of fast event called “Majlis Iftar and Sembahyang Tarawikh”.

Held at Bangunan MIDF at Jalan Tun Razak, the break fast was also attended by staff of MIDF celebrating the joy of ‘berbuka puasa’ with nasi briyani and many other local delicacies with the unfortunate children. In his welcoming speech, MIDF Chairman, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Mahmood Taib said the majlis iftar, or majlis berbuka puasa, was one of MIDF’s way of showing that we care and we have not forgotten the less fortunate individuals, especially with the Hari Raya festivities season being just around the corner.

“MIDF has made this Majlis Iftar and annual event and we look forward to celebrate many more occasions with orphanages and share the company’s success with the less fortunate ones,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Mahmood.

To make the majlis more memorable for the children, each staff of MIDF chaperoned two (2) children throughout the majlis. A bag of goodies containing a prayer mat, brooch (for girls), buttons for baju melayu (for boys), Yassin booklet and a box of dates together with “Duit Raya” amounting to RM50.00 were presented to the children by Tan Sri Dato’ Mahmood, together with Encik Mohd. Najib bin Hj. Abdullah, MIDF Group Managing Director.

MIDF staff also made personal contributions to the orphanage through a donation box that was passed around and more than RM 5,000 was collected that evening.  The majlis ended with a “moreh” or supper, whereby roti jala serawa durian was served and seemed to be a hit amongst the children.
