MIDF LENDS A HELPING HAND TO FLOOD-AFFECTED AREAS IN JOHOR
SEGAMAT, Thursday, 18 December 2007 – Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (“MIDF”) came forward to mobilise its aid to flood victims in view of the increasing number in Johor. In response to the continuous and worsening flood situations in the worse-hit district in the state, MIDF has sent more than 5,000 bottles of mineral water to several relief centres.
MIDF, through to the Malaysian Red Crescent, distributed the aid to selected relief centres among which were Kampung Gemereh 4, Kampung Buloh Kasap 1, Kampung Kuala Paya and Kampung Batu Bakar, as most roads leading to main affected areas in Segamat remained closed to traffic.
Present to hand over the donation and visit the flood-affected areas was MIDF Chief Operating Officer Encik Azizi Mustafa and a group of MIDF volunteers.
According to Encik Azizi, MIDF has decided to contribute in this form in view of the rising concern about health problems arising from unhygienic food and water intake due to shortage of clean cooking and drinking water in areas that are badly affected by the flood. “Providing the victims that are housed at relief centres with clean drinking water is vital in the prevention of water related sickness and also for hygiene purposes,” he said.
“Our contributions today is not much but we call upon our business counterparts to come forward by donating the much needed aid in providing them comfort while facing difficult situations. Hopefully, we can help in creating a more comfortable environment for the flood victims to conserve their health and wellbeing,” he added.
