MIDF CREATES A STUDY CORNER FOR DBKL’s PERUMAHAN AWAM SRI SABAH 3A RESIDENTS



Kuala Lumpur, 5 January 2008 – Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (“MIDF”) in collaboration with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) today opened a study corner at Perumahan Awam Sri Sabah 3A as a Corporate Social Responsibilities effort to create conducive studying environment in a move to help improve academic performance of the children in the community.

Officiated by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ab. Hakim bin Borhan, the study corner was created to provide proper and comfortable area complete with facilities to enable the residents especially school children to study, do their homework, conduct group discussions and organize tuitions and extra classes. The study corner offers more spacious and pleasant atmosphere for its users.

Delivering his welcoming address at the event, MIDF Group Managing Director Encik Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah said that MIDF is certainly proud to collaborate with DBKL in supporting the Government’s agenda to develop quality human capital.

“It is our hope that this new study corner will inspire and encourage the children of Perumahan Awam Sri Sabah to dedicate more time from their daily activities to do revision and their school homework here. The study corner can also be used as a place to acquire knowledge from the reading materials and educational classes to be held there. Nurturing one’s knowledge has never been more important as the world is getting more competitive than ever. We at MIDF fully support our Prime Minister’s call in elevating the nation’s human capital,” En. Najib said.

“MIDF has been established for 48 years and ever since its incorporation in 1960, the Group has always been socially responsible. We strive to contribute back to the society to ensure everyone has a fair share of the Country’s progress and success,” he added.

The study corner, which was originally an existing flat unit, was fully renovated and converted into a conducive study area by MIDF, complete with facilities like new furniture including study chairs and tables bookshelves, reference books, air conditioning and equipped with personal computers.
