MIDF AND UiTM JOIN HANDS TO PROMOTE ARTS AND CRAFTS. Student-made Arts and Crafts to be displayed at Menara MIDF
Shah Alam, 3 July 2008 –Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM) on promoting arts and crafts created by undergraduate students from its Faculty of Arts and Design.
Signing on behalf of MIDF were its Group Managing Director Encik Mohd.Najib Bin Hj. Abdullah, and Chief Operating Officer Encik Azizi Mustafa, while representing UiTM were Dato’ Seri Professor Dr.Ibrahim Abu Shah, Vice Chancellor of UiTM Shah Alam and Professor Madya Dr. Baharudin B Ujang, Dean of the UiTM Faculty of Art and Design. The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Y.B. Datuk Ir. Haji Idris Bin Haji Haron was present at the event.
Under the terms of the MoU, students from UiTM’s Faculty of Arts and Design will be given various opportunities to promote their artworks and showcase their skills and talents through the display of their creative works, to be placed at various locations and soon to be ready MIDF-UiTM Art Gallery within the Menara MIDF premises. The gallery will be open for public viewing .
In addition, MIDF will encourage these students to contribute and propose ideas on the interior design of Menara MIDF once renovation works are completed. By doing so, they are given the opportunity to express their creativity to beautify the Corporate level of the building.
“MIDF also looks forward to playing a positive role in supporting the Government’s call to contribute towards developing world-class human capital and to strengthen the country’s national identity through the development of culture and arts,” said Encik Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah at the signing ceremony. “MIDF is proud of this strategic collaboration with UiTM because we will be able to provide a platform for the students to display their talents, and simultaneously encourage cultural and arts-related industries as another source of economic growth.”
MIDF may also play its role as a financial advisor to students who are interested in venturing into their own businesses upon graduation from UiTM.
“The fact that there are talented young individuals in Malaysia has never been in doubt. What these people need however are avenues through which they can express their creativity. As a company that has been able to grow into a diversified financial institution, we at MIDF are more than happy to give back to Malaysian society by providing such avenues,” said Encik Mohd. Najib.

It has also ratified an MoU with the Malaysian Multimedia University on establishing a management associate programme.
