MIDF USHERS IN MERDEKA WITH BLOOD DONATION DRIVE AND PRE-MERDEKA CELEBRATION
Kuala Lumpur, 5 September 2008 – Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) celebrated this year’s Merdeka in a more meaningful way by organising a blood donation drive and a pre-Merdeka celebration for its employees.
The blood donation drive, held on 26 August, was specially organised as part of MIDF’s contribution to the nation alongside its other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities which have been and are actively implemented. The blood donation drive managed to collect 84 bags of blood from MIDF employees.
“At MIDF, we have always made it a point to contribute to the society and we also encourage our employees to do the same whenever they can,” Encik Mohd Najib Hj. Abdullah, MIDF’s Group Managing Director said. “Each bag of blood means hope for those in need. With the coming of Ramadan and the expected slow down in blood donation, we hope the blood donated will supplement the supply in the National Blood Bank”.
In the same week, MIDF also organised a pre-Merdeka celebration as a precursor of the Merdeka spirit and Merdeka Anniversary celebration. During the celebration, dubbed Ambang Merdeka MIDF, the Company’s choir delivered patriotic songs and the employees were further entertained by Malaysian artistes, Ella and Izwan Pilus.
“Apart from expressing gratitude to the employees for their participation in the blood donation drive, our objective is to unite the employees and together internalize the spirit of Merdeka in peace and harmony. It is the time when people cast aside their differences, and are together as one celebrating the nation’s progress and success.” Mohd. Najib continued. “This is also the Management’s way of rewarding our employees, as we are aware that they work hard. Thus, every now and then, we would like to give them a chance to enjoy themselves and Merdeka is a good time to do it.”
