MIDF AND IIUM SIGN MOU TO CREATE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG MALAYSIANS
IIUM students to benefit from career guidance and opportunities with MIDF Group

Kuala Lumpur, 16th October 2008 – In its ongoing efforts to nurture Malaysia’s human capital, the Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Group (“MIDF”) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement with International Islamic University of Malaysia (“IIUM”) on extending the MIDF Management Associate Programme (MA Programme) to talented individuals from IIUM.

Signing on behalf of MIDF Group was Encik Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah, Group Managing Director of MIDF who was joined by Professor Dr. Mansor H. Ibrahim Dean for the Kuliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences who signed on behalf of IIUM. Witnessing the event were Tan Sri Dato’Mahmood Taib, MIDF Group Chairman and Professor Dato’ Syed Arabi Idid, Rector of the IIUM.

“The world today is one of increasing challenges and competitiveness for our youth, as well as one of greater opportunities. It is vital that Malaysian graduates develop the necessary professional skills and mental strength to adapt to an ever evolving global economy. As a part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, we at MIDF are proud to do our part by providing meaningful programs centred on education, as we are doing here today with IIUM. This programme is the second collaboration with a Malaysian university; the first being our collaboration with Multimedia University in Cyberjaya.” said Encik Mohd. Najib.

Aimed at students in the field of business administration, marketing, economics and IT, the MIDF Management Associate Programme will identify 20 final year students from IIUM who will enjoy the opportunity to work with MIDF once they graduate from their respective fields. While with MIDF, they will be known as Management Associates or MAs.

Candidates for the MA Programme will be interviewed by a panel of MIDF interviewers and are selected based on strong academic performances as well as impressive personalities. Once selected, the successful candidates will be attached to the various divisions within MIDF Group namely Investment Banking, Asset Management and Development Finance. During their 6 months tenure, the MA’s will enjoy the same benefits as an entry level employee which includes a basic salary, EPF contributions, annual leave and medical benefits.

Since its inception in 1960, the MIDF Group has been a strong contributor towards the country’s socio-economic growth. The group today is a diversified business organization which offers comprehensive financial and investment services through its core businesses.

Encik Mohd Najib added that apart from this initiative, MIDF had, through its other CSR programmes, contributed considerably toward enhancing human capital capabilities amongst many quarters of our society.

Earlier in the year, MIDF established a study corner for the children and residents of the Sri Sabah flats in Cheras, and recently returned to the study corner to contribute books collected from amongst MIDF staff. Selected students from schools in Kota Tinggi and Melaka were also presented with basic school necessities such as bicycles, school bags, stationeries and pocket money in an effort to ease the burden of their parents.

In addition to its efforts to encourage education amongst underprivileged youths, MIDF also recently embarked on a project named “Program Rumah Murni MIDF” where homes were built for selected hard core poor families. The first phase involves 8 families in Muar, Johor. Six families were recently presented with the keys to their new homes in time for the Hari Raya celebrations. These homes were also equipped with household necessities and the remaining two homes will be presented to the recipients soon.

“As a financial institution that has always held a mandate for development, MIDF is proud to maintain a range of CSR programmes for the benefit of our society. From providing basic necessities to under privileged children to rebuilding the homes of flood victims, MIDF is committed towards being a responsible corporate entity” said Encik Mohd. Najib.
