Kuala Lumpur, 20 June 2016 – The joy of Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink; in fact, it is the getting together with one’s family for Buka Puasa and performing prayers afterwards that makes it whole, or complete.  While most of us are lucky enough to be able to spend Ramadan with our families, there are some who have never had the opportunity to do so.  It is with that thought in mind that Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) organises its annual Buka Puasa event or Majlis Silaturahim Iftar.

MIDF recently hosted the Iftar event at its head office at Menara MIDF in Jalan Raja Chulan.  34 orphans from Rumah Amal Raudhatul Jannah in Banting were celebrated at the event which began with a motivational talk by Captain Mohd Syukri Hj Zahari Al Hafiz.  After Maghrib prayers and the breaking of fast, the children were presented with school bags and RM50 Raya money each.  The orphanage also received a RM5,000 contribution from MIDF.

“Apart from monetary contribution to Rumah Amal Raudhatul Jannah, MIDF’s main objective is to provide the children with a different setting during the breaking of fast instead of their daily routine,” said MIDF Group Managing Director, Datuk Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah.  “At the MIDF Iftar event, our employees play host and the children sit and eat with them instead of with each other only.  We want them to feel happy and appreciated; this is one of MIDF’s ways to give back to society and to share our success with those in need.”

Also present at the Majlis Silaturahim Iftar event were the MIDF Group Board of Directors and senior management.
