Johor Bahru, 12 February 2014 – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) will officiate the opening of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad’s (“MIDF”) new Southern Region office on 13 February 2014. The new office is located at Menara TH in Jalan Ayer Molek, Johor Bahru.
MIDF will also organise a Luncheon Talk in conjunction with the opening ceremony. The luncheon talk will feature Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios Sdn. Bhd.’s Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), Mr. Michael Lake. His talk will be titled “Making Movies in Malaysia”.
“We are honoured that the Deputy Minister of MITI, YB Datuk Ir. Hj. Hamim Samuri will be present to officiate the opening of MIDF’s new Southern Region office,” said Datuk Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah, MIDF’s Group Managing Director. “MIDF is also organising our first Luncheon Talk out of Kuala Lumpur and we hope that our guests will enjoy the talk which will feature Pinewood Studios CEO, Mr. Michael Lake.”
The MIDF Luncheon Talk is organised on a monthly basis in Kuala Lumpur where the company’s headquarters is located. The luncheon talk and corporate spotlight series feature the CEOs of major corporates and among those featured in in the past are Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liew Kee Sin of S P Setia Berhad, CEO of Wesports Holdings Berhad Mr. Ruben Emir Gnanalingam, Group Managing Director and CEO of UMW Holdings Berhad Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir and AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman Rani. The luncheon talk series provides an arena for industry captains to share their experiences, and also provides an opportunity for MIDF’s customers and guests to foster close ties with the various speakers. The MIDF Luncheon Talk featuring Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios Sdn. Bhd. is the first to be held outside of Kuala Lumpur.
MIDF’s Southern Region branch was established in 1975 with the intention of catering to the financing needs of the Johor state. As at 31 December 2013, the number of loans approved to clients in the Southern Region since the establishment of MIDF is 1,274 companies with a total value of RM2.1 billion.
MIDF was established fifty-three years ago as a result of a study by the World Bank. MIDF is the country’s premier development finance institution for the purpose of accelerating the development and modernisation of the country’s manufacturing and services industries.
