Kuala Lumpur, 6 January 2014 Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) is currently displaying the art works created by 7 academicians and alumni of Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia’s (UiTM) Faculty of Art and Design at its art gallery in Menara MIDF, Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.

There are fifty-eight pieces of art works in various mediums on display at the MIDF-UiTM Art Space in Menara MIDF and all the art works are available for sale.  The exhibition is open until 31 January 2014, and those interested to view the art works may visit the MIDF-UiTM Art Space at Ground Floor, Menara MIDF, 82 Jalan Raja Chulan, 50200 Kuala Lumpur from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

MIDF signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UiTM in September 2012 as a continuation in their joint efforts to promote local arts.  The first MoU was signed in 2009.  Through the MoU, students, academicians and alumni from UiTM’s Faculty of Arts and Design are given an opportunity to promote their artworks at the MIDF-UiTM Art Space as well as various locations at MIDF’s headquarters in Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.  The MIDF-UiTM Art Space was officially launched in 2009 by then Yang DiPertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

“MIDF has worked with the Faculty of Arts and Design on various occasions and some of the notable activities include the art workshops handled by final year students of the faculty for school children,” said MIDF Group Managing Director, Datuk Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah. “MIDF has also assisted in promoting the university’s Band Tanpa Letrik, which performed during the opening of MSAM 2009 in Johor Bahru and during the official opening of Menara MIDF, also in 2009.”

“We hope that the avenues provided will assist the artists of the paintings in establishing a name for themselves and that the art exhibition will also create an awareness for the public about the availability of such talent in the local arts industry,” added Datuk Mohd. Najib.
