Kota Kinabalu, 20 April 2012 — Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) today presented school necessities to schoolchildren from six primary schools from within Kota Kinabalu. The schools, represented by two children each, received their packages from Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak in conjunction with the opening ceremony of MSAM 2012.
This programme is part of the Company’s latest corporate social responsibility initiative -Program Pendidikan Murni MIDF (PPMM) which extends assistance to schools and schoolchildren. So far, MIDF has built a school dining hall and three kindergartens under this initiative, and recently handed over 100 used computers for the benefit of several schools in Perlis.
“The Company’s CSR programmes are based on education; hence PPMM was initiated to ensure that those in need are assisted in the best way possible. This year, MIDF is grateful to be able to extend its assistance to children in Sabah via the school necessities set which they received from the Prime Minister today,” stated MIDF Group Managing Director, Datuk Mohd. Najib Hj. Abdullah. “The children are our assets, and our role is to provide them the support they need the most. Hopefully this initiative will also help to lift the burden off their parents as the expenses of school uniforms can be quite high especially for those with many children.”
The children, from underprivileged families were selected from the following schools:
- SK Likas, Kota Kinabalu
- SRK St Agnes, Likas
- SK Pomotodon Inanam
- SK Kitobu Inanam
- SK Kepayan
- SJKC Chung Hwa, Kota Kinabalu
Each child will receive two sets of school uniforms, two pairs of school shoes, a stationery set, one cap, a rain coat and a school bag.
