MITI Day 2022

MIDF participated in this year’s MITI Day which was held at the Tapak Pasar Tani Melawati in Selangor on 16 October 2022.

The event was officially launched by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister, Ministry of International Trade and Industry and was attended by Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, Secretary General of MITI, Dato’ Sri Norazman Ayob, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), En. Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Deputy Secretary General (Trade), Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, Deputy Secretary General (Investment), Heads of Agencies under MITI as well as local celebrities and spokespeople including Erma Fatima, Nabil Ahmad, Erra Fazira and Rozita Che Wan who were invited to set up booths offering various locally produced products.

MIDF Group Managing Director, Dato’ Charon Wardini Mokhzani attended the launch, accompanied by Head of Development Finance Division (DFD), En. Azizi Hj. Mustafa as well as representatives from DFD and other business units including Group Strategic Communications (GSC).

The event started off with a fun run and ride which was flagged off by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in the morning. This was followed by the “MPC Innorace”, a treasure hunt organised by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). 50 teams including one from MIDF were required to complete the hunt over 3 hours at various checkpoints located around Taman Melawati, covering a walking distance of 2 kilometres.  Team Greek Odds of MIDF, made up of En. Ali Imran Zakaraia from Group Human Resources, En. Mohd Farid Hafiz Mohd Ariff from Group Compliance, En. Rasydan Rawi Marzuki and Pn. Raihan Jemila Mohd Rosehan Anwar from Group Risk Management won third place in the treasure hunt, taking home the RM600 prize money. 

MIDF had invited local celebrity, film producer cum entrepreneur Erma Fatima to share her journey as an entrepreneur and promote MIDF’s as well as other MITI agencies’ roles in assisting local businesses. Erma Fatima collaborates with local food producers to develop food products under the brand name Mak Cun which is now available in a special section of AEON supermarkets nationwide.       

It was a fun-filled day with various informative sessions by Exim Bank, SIRIM, MATRADE, MPC, INVESTKL, MIDA and HDC, amongst others. There were even health outreach programmes like health and cancer screenings by PKD Gombak Setia and Outreach PEKA B40 by Protect Health.

Other attractions included E-Sports and Free FIFA 23 and PUBG Play Sessions by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), an autoshow and AV/VR exhibitions by MARii as well as an employment exhibition and open interviews by MIDA.

Visitors were entertained by cooking demonstrations and performances throughout the day culminating in special performances by guest artists Datuk Amy Search and Ruffedge.

One of the main highlights of the day was the lucky draw which saw winning participants taking home amazing prizes including the latest iPhones, Honda motorcycles and even a Perodua Bezza, which was the Grand Prize. MIDF sponsored 5 bicycles and a Honda motorcycle for the lucky draw.  Lucky draw prizes and prizes for the “MPC Innorace” and FIFA 23/PUBG competitions were presented by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.      

He also presented certificates of recognition to Productivity Champions identified by MPC as well as the Standard and Accreditation Award in Malaysia, under the Malaysian Standards Department to five accreditation and standard development experts from various agencies.
