IDEAS’ 12th Anniversary & Fundraising Dinner
The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) marked its 12th anniversary with a fundraising celebration dinner at the InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 25 August 2022. The dinner is part of its yearly flagship celebration to raise funds for its non-profit advocacy work. This year’s theme - “Malaysia: Moving Forward Together”, sparked reminders of perseverance amid the pandemic and reflected on IDEAS’ 12-year history as a think tank.
The event was attended by 140 distinguished guests, including, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz, former Minister of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia who delivered the Keynote Address, and special guest, Prof Dr. Muhammad Haji Salleh, a Malaysian National Laureate, and renowned writer, who passionately read two sajaks or poems titled “Negaraku” and “Merdeka Itu Bebas”.
The evening was also graced by H.E. Wayne Robson, the Canadian High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Justin Lee, the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, YAM Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Founder and Chairman of IDEAS, Datuk Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), IDEAS alumni, Founding Partner and Chairman of Ikhlas Capital, Tan Sri Nazir Razak, IDEAS alumni En. Wan Mohd Firdaus and Datuk Wan Saiful, YB Noor Amin Ahmad as well as other celebrated supports and sponsors.
